Application Process
Step I: Submit a Project Application
- Review the Client Criteria to ensure that your organization is a match for ACT's services.
- Submit a brief description of your organization's needs to info@stanfordact.org summarizing how ACT can help you.
- ACT staff will contact you to discuss if and how ACT can help. If an ACT project appears appropriate, we will send you an application.
- Submit your application for an ACT project. Projects are organized in two annual rounds:
Contact ACT By Completed Application Due By Project Begins January 4 January 15 April June 1 June 19 October
Step II: Project Selection / Sounding Board Process
After reviewing your project application and confirming that it is an appropriate match with one of our service offerings, the ACT office will begin its volunteer recruitment process.
For Full Projects, descriptions of prospective projects are circulated among our pool of Project Leaders—experienced ACT consultants eligible to direct project teams. If your project is accepted by a Project Leader, he or she will contact you to initiate the Sounding Board phase, designed to provide consultants with a more detailed and intimate understanding of your organization's circumstances and issues. If the Project Leader believes the envisioned project is suitable for ACT, he or she will work with your organization's leadership to refine the scope of the project, develop the project work plan, and help the ACT office determine the appropriate size and structure of the volunteer team. The project will commence once a team has been recruited and trained.
ACT is rarely able to identify a team for every application submitted. If ACT cannot match your organization with a Project Leader or if the sounding board process indicates that the project should not move forward, we will contact you to discuss alternatives.
For Fast Track projects, projects commence once the ACT office has identified the appropriate consultants to fulfill your project needs.
